The Buxton Wonders Baseball Team was initially all black and included George Neal in the second row far right. The team was organized around 1900 when Buxton was being developed as a coal mining camp. George Neal was a tailor in an area near Buxton called Coopertown. The organizer of the team B.F. Coopers pharmacy was next door to the tailor shop. My grandfather David Peterson's store was in the same building as the Cooper pharmacy. George Neal later became manager of the team.
