After selling the Melrose Corners General Store to the Parenza family in 1932, grandpa opened a gas station in Georgetown in 1935. The building in the photo is located where he built the gas station, but is not the building. The gas station had living quarters in the rear of the station where he stayed with his youngest son, Roy. When the Bucknell school in Haydock closed in 1935, the only school available to the 11 year old Roy was the school at the Goergetown Church. Grandpa opened the gas station specifically to provide living quarters for Roy to continue his education. The church steeple can be seen in the photo. The school was behind the church.
